One of the most popular ways to protect and backup your sensitive data is a RAID array. A RAID array has five different levels and each offers different advantages and disadvantages. Almost all tech-savvy people use different types of RAID arrays to keep their data secure and available for whenever they might need it.
We all know from experience that a hard drive failure can and will happen at the most unfortunate times when you need important documents for various reasons. You dont want to be left in the dark simply because you decided not to go with any type of backup solution at all. A RAID array can save you a lot of time, money and headaches in the long run.
Which RAID Array is Right for You?
The most commonly used RAID array by personal users would be RAID-1. With a RAID-1 you only need 2 or more drives hooked up and all your data is backed up or mirrored on the second drive. The only drawback to a RAID-1 is that anything you want backed up has to have the same amount of hard drive space as the original drive. This can sometimes be more costly from a megabyte point of view, but hard drives are so cheap these days you cant afford to not have one.
If you are in an environment that has more than one user, typically a large network, you want to have access to all the data on the network at any given time. RAID-5 can keep your data safe, and because you need more than 2 drives, the data is written differently. Because of this method, if you happen to have 1 hard drive fail, it will not affect the array; all data stays intact and you are still able to access it without any hassle.

There are many different types of remote access software out there and one of the more popular ones is called Pcanywhere. Pcanywhere has been around for as long as I can remember. I remember even before the days of the Internet, my friends and I would use Pcanywhere to transfer files from one computer to another.
Imagine being on vacation somewhere in another country. You remember you had some important documents on your home computer and you need to send them to a colleague right away. What would you do in this situation? You could call home and try and explain over the phone what exactly you want done, or you could use Pcanywhere.
Access Your Computer Anywhere with Pcanywhere
Pcanywhere is a very powerful program that allows you to log into your computer from any other computer that might be connected to the Internet. Not only does it allow you to access your files, and transfer them, but you can actually manipulate them on your computer. Basically what you see on your remote screen is exactly what is going on on your home computer.
My roommate mentioned that they even use Pcanywhere at his workplace. I was really surprised to learn that this application was used in a work environment because I still think back to my friends and I fooling around with it on our personal computers. You can use Pcanywhere in practically any situation, from any PC around the world.

Anyone whos been around computers and important data for any amount of time has probably been involved in at least one disaster recovery at some point. If youre among the unlucky people who have had to try and pick up the pieces after a computer failure, you know just how frustrating it is. Theres nothing worse than losing important information, and not being able to get it back.
In this day and age we really rely on technology for a lot of things, and take for granted some of the things that we leave up to technology. If something happens to an important server or network system, the repercussions can be felt for days. This is when having a good disaster recovery plan is of the utmost importance.
Disaster Recovery Saves Time and Money
The quicker you get your system back up and running, the quicker things go back to normal. And, hopefully, when things are back to normal your company will be making money again. You want to have the shortest amount of downtime possible, and thats when a good disaster recovery plan can help save you time and money.
When a crash occurs, if you have a proper backup of all the data ready and a plan to quickly swap the failed drive or computer with the backup, its possible to manage a disaster recovery with a minimal downtime. There are other options available, like a RAID array too, that let you deal with a failed drive without having any downtime or data loss at all. Disaster recovery is something you should be prepared for, and with the right software and hardware, its not as daunting as it may seem.
